The Eternal Shame of Your First Online Handle ›

ceasaigh:

This is a fun and somewhat cringe-inducing piece.

I took this at the famous Luang Prabang Night Market in Laos.

This was taken in Burkina Faso. The string tied around the girl’s body is to protect against evil spirits. It will be removed when it is believed her spirit has fully developed. Around age 7 or 8. She is also wearing waist beads. She will wear waist beads her whole life. When she is older they will be only for her husband to see.

Conversation with Kelly while eating ice cream..

  • Me: ah, brain freeze
  • Kelly: stick your finger in it. it helps.
  • Me: ok
  • Kelly: not your nose! your ice cream.
  • Me: oops.

This was taken in a district on the outskirts of Beijing, about 2 hours from the city’s center.

I took this in a very small village in Burkina Faso, West Africa. This boy was waiting for his mother who was in the mosque. We communicated through the little French I remembered from high school.
